Two Artists – Teresa Witz & Linda Cooney – into One Gallery
Menier Gallery, 51 Southwark Street, London SE1 1RU
1st April – 5th April 2014
TERESA WITZ and LINDA COONEY decided it was time to have a joint exhibition of their paintings. As the Chocolate Factory next door to the Menier Gallery is presenting ‘TWO INTO ONE’, a play by Linda’s husband RAY COONEY, it seemed a perfect opportunity to show their work during the run. Linda became one of Teresa’s students some years ago, when she started attending her art workshops, and since then they have all become good friends.
TERESA WITZ is a renowned portrait painter of modern icons – celebrity, athlete and sporting figures as well as painting a number of individual portrait commissions. A year after completing her Doctorate in Fine Art, she was appointed one of the official Olympic artists for the London 2012 Games. This exhibition will include a selection of her latest celebrity paintings as well as her series of paintings on box cabinets and other works on canvas.
LINDA COONEY has painted for as long as she can remember and over the years she has built up a body of work which she has sold from her studio at home and has also exhibited in various London venues. Her paintings have developed from her numerous sketch books and journals which she has accumulated from her travels.
A percentage of sales will be donated to “The Royal Theatrical Fund”
